Our Spontaneous Pet Store Adventure!

Sometimes some of the best adventures happen when you least expect them! Take this past weekend for example. We were out on an errands trip and my son started saying he wanted to go to the pet store! Now, I don’t really know where he got this idea, as I cannot remember the last time I have been to a pet store. Being in a spontaneous mood, we said, “Sure, let’s go!!”

So we did!

And we had SOOO much fun!

First thing we saw was cute little doggies being groomed! We had fun watching this doggie’s haircut.

Then we saw ferrets! Ferrets, people. And I did not get a picture because my squeamish self did not get too close to those! haha!! But what’s even better than ferrets? Parrots!!

Next up, turtles! I mean this pet store was like going to the zoo, only saving us a good hour and a half drive! I either forgot or just never realized how many critters pet stores actually have!

We also saw lots of fish, some cute little kitties (our pet of choice), a lizard, plus that whole mice/hamster/rodent section which mommy skipped over.

But, one of the coolest parts was watching dog training happen right in the store! It was neat to see the trainers work with the dog and gently teach the dog commands or tricks and reward them with treats or pets!

This impromptu trip was easy, FREE, and was right where we were! So, if you have a limited budget, but would like to see something new, check out your local pet store. It was educational, too! Our 3 year old was soaking in everything he saw and there was many things to talk about while we were there. I think we will try to go again more regularly.

Tip: We did tell our son before we went in the store that we would NOT be leaving with any pets.  Not the right time in my life for a lizard hanging around in the living room.

Oh, and we saw this impressive display of Star Wars toys and accessories on our way out. (We are big Star Wars fans). I asked Philip if we should get our cat a Chewbacca outfit and he said NO. What??! The lightsaber toys were really cool also!

May The Force Be With You.
