    Happy New Year!

Here we go into 2020! If you’re like me, there’s always a zillion things to do and the time seems to go by without everything getting done! It’s funny how there’s always this thought in my mind of getting x, y, and z done before the new year rolls around, which leaves me a little panicky when there’s only a few days and then no days left until the New Year!! Everything that did not get done in 2019 will still be there tomorrow. So we just start with the next right thing and carry on.  What’s the craziest New Year’s Resolution you’ve set? My friend and I decided one…

    Clean-Up Day

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”  We were recently on a trip where we noticed a ton of trash in a particular neighborhood. It really stuck out to us and we thought, “Why don’t people pick up this trash!!?” We started lamenting about how sad of a situation it is when communities or people become apathetic and/or helpless to change their surroundings. It wasn’t that there were just a couple empty cups or plastic bags, it was serious littering & neglect in this particular neighborhood- enough to fill several dumpsters. Well, of course it was not long after Philip and I were lamenting about…

    Indianapolis Spring Break, Day 1

We took our Spring Break to Indianapolis this year, and boy was it fun! We decided on Indianapolis by searching for the warmest weather for the week. Haha!! Aside from Florida (obviously!), the warmest place within a day’s drive we could find was Indy! It ended up being the absolute perfect day for the zoo! The weather was beautiful and even though the breeze was still cool, the sun was warm! Our winter this year has been pretty cold for a long time with only two or three warm days, so being free to take our jackets off for the afternoon was great! The animals were so active as well –…

    March Thrifty Haul!

I love finding thrifty deals! Thrift stores, garage sales, clearance racks, that’s my jam! Here are my best finds from this past month! KC is really into the “Cars” movies & characters, and has a small collection of little cars from the movie. I found a couple at Goodwill to join his collection. Fillmore looks so groovy! Also at Goodwill, I found this nice yellow swan.  Doesn’t everybody need a yellow swan? No? Well, anyway I thought it was cute for a spring decoration on the dining room table : ) I found a couple dresses for myself, and a shawl that goes with both of them! The only thing…

Simple Music for Babies & Toddlers

Many of us know the benefits of introducing music to children at a young age. There have been tons of studies done about the positive effects of music on children’s brains as they are quickly absorbing and learning everything around them. But besides all of that, music is just plain fun! It’s something anyone can participate in, even infants. Well, today we wanted to share some really easy and practical ways we have incorporated music into our daily lives! I hope some of these might give you ideas of what you can do with the children in your life as well! Listening to Music This is one of the easiest…

    Brisk Chicago Morning – A quick Day-Trip

We recently had the opportunity to spend a glorious morning in downtown Chicago! We had a whole morning to spend before meeting some friends, and we made the most of our time! We parked in a garage downtown and walked a bit on Michigan Avenue, “The Magnificent Mile!” We then decided to head to the River Walk. It took us a little time to find the “stroller friendly” entrance, but then we were soon on our way! Seeing the Skyscrapers up close, (Or the “ky-crapers”, as KC calls them) was awesome! Even as chilly and early as it was, there were people out walking their dogs, out for their morning…

    KC’s First Piano Lesson!

Well, we did it! I taught KC his first “official” piano lesson. There was a mixture of emotions on my end – a tiny bit of nervousness at the start! (“Will this idea fail miserably?” “I’ve never taught my own kid piano lessons before, what’s going to happen?”) But…the predominant feeling I felt while working with him was, “Wow, is my little buddy really old enough for a piano lesson? I can’t believe he’s growing up so fast!” So, how did his first lesson go? As you can tell from the picture above, KC loved his first piano lesson! He was eager and happy and engaged with what I was explaining and…

    Our Spontaneous Pet Store Adventure!

Sometimes some of the best adventures happen when you least expect them! Take this past weekend for example. We were out on an errands trip and my son started saying he wanted to go to the pet store! Now, I don’t really know where he got this idea, as I cannot remember the last time I have been to a pet store. Being in a spontaneous mood, we said, “Sure, let’s go!!” So we did! And we had SOOO much fun! First thing we saw was cute little doggies being groomed! We had fun watching this doggie’s haircut. Then we saw ferrets! Ferrets, people. And I did not get a…
