    Bad Days

We love our boys. KC is learning more and more and he makes us smile when he talks all grown-up. He has been singing a lot more, mostly small nursery songs and children’s tunes, with a good sense of pitch too! RA’s personality is shining through; he is starting to communicate with simple words like “Mama,” “Dada,” “ball,” “wawa,” and you can tell that he understands things. Plus, he’s almost consistently sleeping thru the whole night! Watching them grow up is a real joy. But some of the growing up is less than joyful. Parenting can be stressful, as most any parent can attest to. There are good days when…

    Clean-Up Day

“We can do no great things, only small things with great love.”  We were recently on a trip where we noticed a ton of trash in a particular neighborhood. It really stuck out to us and we thought, “Why don’t people pick up this trash!!?” We started lamenting about how sad of a situation it is when communities or people become apathetic and/or helpless to change their surroundings. It wasn’t that there were just a couple empty cups or plastic bags, it was serious littering & neglect in this particular neighborhood- enough to fill several dumpsters. Well, of course it was not long after Philip and I were lamenting about…

    March Thrifty Haul!

I love finding thrifty deals! Thrift stores, garage sales, clearance racks, that’s my jam! Here are my best finds from this past month! KC is really into the “Cars” movies & characters, and has a small collection of little cars from the movie. I found a couple at Goodwill to join his collection. Fillmore looks so groovy! Also at Goodwill, I found this nice yellow swan.  Doesn’t everybody need a yellow swan? No? Well, anyway I thought it was cute for a spring decoration on the dining room table : ) I found a couple dresses for myself, and a shawl that goes with both of them! The only thing…

    Sharing God Simply To Children

We have shared a bit here on our heart and conviction of why teaching God to children is so vitally important to both us and them. We also understand that parents might be daunted by the task of teaching children about God, especially if they have not come from a faith background themselves, or are just not sure where to start.  Parents might even be afraid that they won’t be “good enough” of a parent to prevent their kids from leaving behind the lessons taught to them. Parents might question, “Will my kids become like today’s unruly youth and the ‘modern teenager’?”  It seems kids today are attracted to every trend…

Why teach our children about God?

“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) One of the…
