Indianapolis Spring Break, Day 4!
Last day of vacation! We checked out of the hotel and drove to Carmel, IN. It was a sunny day (Yes! Sometimes I think we’re related to Superman; we get our powers from the sun.) but it was still a little chilly from the breeze. Main Street Carmel is very lovely. They had statues all around the sidewalk in different areas, each doing something different. It’s a very artsy feeling area, with lots of shops. We stopped in a couple shops, one of them being a large antique store. Krysten thinks we’ve been here before. It has two floors and many vendors. KC of course was always on the lookout…

Indianapolis Spring Break, Day 3
The snow! The snow comes to us on Spring Break! No!! –Well OK, spring break not in Florida is asking for snow. Brunch was at a place called “Milktooth.” Odd name, but interesting culinary offerings. Just to give you an idea of the menu: sweet petite oyseters. potato & rutabaga latke. (what is that??) bowl of spicy miso soup. crispy cauliflower wedge with tahini sauce. smoked great lakes whitefish salad on sourdough challah. dehydrated beet raisins & tumeric roasted beets. The menu goes on. Krysten would probably eat here all the time if she could! I liked the burger I got. There was also a pastry selection I would totally go…

Indianapolis Spring Break, Day 2
Our 2nd day in Indianapolis was filled with good food! We had scouted out a bakery nearby our hotel, so I was sent out to go get some sugary sustenance and some drink items from a nearby convenience store. Long’s Bakery had many yummy items, so many that we would have to go back another day! Long’s Bakery was obviously a local favorite and staple, as it took about ten minutes to even start my order, but that’s OK – I needed the time to make my decision for us! I made sure to get KC a white powdered & a sprinkled donut. I favored the danish and glazed donuts,…

Indianapolis Spring Break, Day 1
We took our Spring Break to Indianapolis this year, and boy was it fun! We decided on Indianapolis by searching for the warmest weather for the week. Haha!! Aside from Florida (obviously!), the warmest place within a day’s drive we could find was Indy! It ended up being the absolute perfect day for the zoo! The weather was beautiful and even though the breeze was still cool, the sun was warm! Our winter this year has been pretty cold for a long time with only two or three warm days, so being free to take our jackets off for the afternoon was great! The animals were so active as well –…

Brisk Chicago Morning – A quick Day-Trip
We recently had the opportunity to spend a glorious morning in downtown Chicago! We had a whole morning to spend before meeting some friends, and we made the most of our time! We parked in a garage downtown and walked a bit on Michigan Avenue, “The Magnificent Mile!” We then decided to head to the River Walk. It took us a little time to find the “stroller friendly” entrance, but then we were soon on our way! Seeing the Skyscrapers up close, (Or the “ky-crapers”, as KC calls them) was awesome! Even as chilly and early as it was, there were people out walking their dogs, out for their morning…

Our Spontaneous Pet Store Adventure!
Sometimes some of the best adventures happen when you least expect them! Take this past weekend for example. We were out on an errands trip and my son started saying he wanted to go to the pet store! Now, I don’t really know where he got this idea, as I cannot remember the last time I have been to a pet store. Being in a spontaneous mood, we said, “Sure, let’s go!!” So we did! And we had SOOO much fun! First thing we saw was cute little doggies being groomed! We had fun watching this doggie’s haircut. Then we saw ferrets! Ferrets, people. And I did not get a…
